The department provides geographical education at all levels - bachelor, master and doctoral (PhD) primarily in human geography, demography and territorial development. Its scientific and research activities focus on actual research challenges such as economic and social development at the regional and local level, competitiveness of regions, industrial reorganizations, public services provision and accessibility, green transport, electoral geography, poverty and social exclusion, suburbanization, urban shrinkage, sports events geography, geography of consumption and retailing, ageing, family behaviour, population forecasting, population policies, global warming and climate change consequences, health issues and COVID-19 impact, the geoinformation systems applications and visualisation.
