The Department´s scientific and research work is objected on the geographical synthesis of social and thematic activities, socio-economic regionalisation in Slovakia, Slovakia’s territorial and spatial analyses, evaluation, management and prognoses of the space systems, environmental studies, geography of the cities and their transformation processes, creation and use of the geoinformation systems and databases for needs of the human- geographical research, studies of the demographic processes and structures, geodemographic and population problems in Slovakia.
